The Department of Defence is upgrading defence bases and training yards across the Northern Territory. Sentaka Defence Base in Holtze was a key site in this program, requiring extensive road rehabilitation and infrastructure works.
Intract Australia, a long-term Ezyquip partner, was awarded the contract and engaged Ezyquip as primary supplier for dry hire equipment, maintenance labour and parts procurement across the project.

Challenges and Solutions
Equipment availability Demand outstripped what Ezyquip Darwin branch had on hand, putting project timelines at risk. Intract asked Ezyquip to act as single-source supplier for the project. Ezyquip cross-hired equipment through trusted local suppliers to maintain continuity, keeping the project on track without disruption to the client.
Site access and security The base’s high-security status meant every person on site, including transport subcontractors, needed formal induction before mobilisation. Ezyquip ran early planning and onboarding sessions to get all personnel compliant ahead of schedule, avoiding delays once works began.
Results
- Trusted supplier status: Intract now refers to Ezyquip as their “000” — the first call for hire, maintenance and transport support.
- New revenue stream: Maintenance work on Intract’s own fleet opened up an additional service line for Ezyquip.
- Delivery under pressure: Full-service support was maintained across tight timelines and strict access requirements.
- Stronger position in defence infrastructure: The project reinforced Ezyquip’s standing as a preferred supplier for future defence works.
Project Management and Value Add
Ezyquips Darwin team met with Intract at project commencement to align on scope and operational requirements. From there, Ezyquip managed subcontractor inductions, coordinated logistics and ensured every piece of equipment met defence-grade standards throughout the project.
That proactive approach — anticipating issues before they affected the client — is what kept Ezyquip central to the project from start to finish.
